Chester H. Bliss, Jr., 87, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 18th. He was the husband of the late Shelly Bliss for over 40 years. Born in South Kingstown, R.I., a son of the late Chester H. Sr. and Dorothy L. (Weeden) Bliss. He had been employed as a machine operator in the jewelry industry for many years. Chester loved music. He was the lead guitarist of his band. He also was the Sub Chief of The Northern Narragansett Indian Tribe of Rhode Island.
He is survived by his children, Chester H. Bliss III, Michael (Junise) Bliss, Sheila (Reggie) Bliss King, Karen Hazard, Kenneth (Schae) Bliss, Kevin (Stacy) Bliss, Shelya (Jason) Bliss Mathias and Travis (Tayarnna) Bliss. He will be dearly missed by his brother Otis Bliss and his 50 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was the brother of the late Allen Bliss.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 1st from 1:00 – 3:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial will be private.
